From collection Jonathan Fisher House Collection
Children's Desk
Made by Jonathan Fisher for one or more of his daughters. The back of the desk has a hidden drawer. The top back has a scalloped, hinged decoration. The original paint was hard, peeling and almost black, and was removed. The paint on the hinged piece was thought to represent a peacock's tail. This desk was purchased from Mr. James Fisher in July, 1949, when he was visiting in Blue Hill. It was purchased by Miss Fonnie E. Davis who was visiting in Blue Hill with Mrs, Dodge at the time. Both the desk and a copy of "Scripture Animals" were a legacy to Mrs. Dodge from Miss Davis in 1955.
