I am now at Islesford, on Little Cranberry Island and I have found that we already have a file on the subject in which you are interested. Our file already includes a copy of the 1904 Bulletin of the Department of Labor like the one that you sent to me. It describes the Cranberry Island Rugs. Our file also includes weaving instructions for several patterns and I am sending you copies. Some of these instructions are marked with the dates 1840 and 1844 and the name Eliza Murray. They appear to have been copied from originals at the Islesford Museum in 1981. Finally, a lady here wove small samples of a couple of these patterns for us 1999. I am enclosing photographs of those samples. They are indeed handsome. The archives of the Islesford Museum were moved to the headquarters of Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor some years ago. There they are located in the William O. Sawtelle Archives & Research Center. The curator is Brooke Childrey who can be reached by EMail at Brooke_Childrey@nps.gov.
