Notes on Elwood Spurling real estate sold to Gilberts 1945 (now the Pierson property with conservation easement). [Per Phil Whitney, Elwood Spurling (Phil's grandfather) built a cabin there and it still stands (2016) in disrepair. His brothers and sisters owned it as part of the estate when mother died, and document shows they relinquished it to grandfather 1920ish with diagram, 28 acres, recorded September 26, 1945 with book/page numbers. Elwood sold it to the Gilberts for $300 and they later sold it to the Piersons for $275,000.
